Prasert Jantararuangtong orders probe into vocational college loan fraud
Thailand's Minister of Education, Prasert Jantararuangtong, has ordered an investigation into four private vocational colleges in Bueng Kan province following allegations of fraudulent student loan activity. The investigation concerns reports that these institutions used student names to illicitly claim funds from the Student Loan Fund (SLF) in exchange for vocational diplomas. Preliminary findings suggest the colleges are owned by the same individual. The Minister emphasized that if document forgery or criminal intent is proven, strict legal action will be taken against the owners and any involved staff.
In a separate engagement, Minister Prasert visited the Chiang Mai Education Forum 2026 to observe the ‘CMTC INNOVATION TO EARN’ exhibition at Chiang Mai Technical College. The exhibition showcased student projects designed to bridge technological skills with income generation, including 3D-printed modular wall organizers and custom laser-cut products. The visit highlighted the integration of vocational training with practical entrepreneurship.
