Prashant Kishor demands probe into alleged custodial death in Bihar
Prashant Kishor, founder of Jan Suraaj and MLA for Bankipur, has demanded a thorough investigation into the alleged custodial death of Roshan Yadav in Madhubani, Bihar. Kishor met with the Superintendent of Police (SSP) to address claims made by Yadav’s family, who allege the individual was beaten to death while in custody.
The family maintains that Yadav was arrested at the Rahika police station on May 27 without any written notice or prior information. While police, administration, and prison authorities have claimed the death was a suicide, the family disputes this account.
During the meeting, the SSP assured Kishor that a comprehensive investigation would be conducted at all levels. The investigation is expected to be supervised by the District Magistrate in accordance with National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) guidelines, with a report to be submitted to the NHRC. A post-mortem report is anticipated within a few days.
