Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraj Loses Three Senior Leaders to BJP Ahead of Bihar By‑elections
Three senior figures associated with Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj party have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bihar, creating a setback for the outfit ahead of upcoming by‑elections. The defectors include former MLA Bittu Singh, former candidate Gopal Singh and former Nalanda Open University vice‑chancellor Prof. K.C. Sinha.
Their move comes as the Banki Pur constituency becomes a focal point: the BJP has fielded youth‑wing leader Nirej Kumar Sinha after former candidate Abhishek Sinha withdrew for personal reasons, while Prashant Kishor himself is contesting the seat. Analysts say the defections could weaken Jan Suraj’s organisational base and influence the outcome of the July‑30 by‑elections in three Bihar constituencies.
