Prasoon Joshi credits Amitabh Bachchan for launching film career

Lyricist and poet Prasoon Joshi recently shared insights into his professional relationship with actor Amitabh Bachchan during an appearance on the quiz show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’.

Joshi revealed that his entry into mainstream Hindi cinema was significantly influenced by Bachchan. He noted that the actor wrote a letter to filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi recommending him after hearing the song ‘Maati’ from one of Joshi's albums. This recommendation led to Santoshi contacting Joshi for the 2001 film ‘Lajja’, marking a major milestone in his career.

Reflecting on their long-standing association, Joshi mentioned that they have collaborated on various films, brand campaigns, and social initiatives. He expressed that sharing a conversation with Bachchan on the iconic show was a unique experience, rooted in their mutual appreciation for poetry and the Hindi language.
