Prat de Vilanova to undergo million-euro water network renovation
The drinking water network in Prat de Vilanova is set to undergo a comprehensive renovation with an investment exceeding one million euros. This project aims to modernize aging infrastructure and adapt it to a new supply model.
Historically, the neighborhood has received water from Cubelles despite being part of the Vilanova i la Geltrú municipality. Starting in October, more than 800 subscribers will automatically transition to the Companyia d’Aigües de Vilanova i la Geltrú service. This change will be facilitated by a new connection from Santa Maria, integrating the area into the municipal network.
Following the initial connection, a second phase involving the total replacement of the internal distribution network is planned. This work is expected to begin in late 2026, following approval and bidding processes. The renovation will include replacing old pipes and installing new regulation and control elements to improve leak detection, maintenance response, and meter-based management.
