Prati di Tivo cable car to reopen in Abruzzo

The Prati di Tivo cable car is set to resume operations on Friday, August 14, following the rapid issuance of a temporary public service authorization by the Abruzzo Region’s Department of Infrastructure and Transport. Regional Councilor Umberto D’Annuntiis noted that the administrative process was completed within 24 hours after receiving the annual inspection report from the operations director on August 12.

The inspection confirmed that the facility is safe for public use, provided current regulations are followed, and will operate using 10 cabins as specified by technical verifications. This temporary authorization remains valid until September 23, 2026, coinciding with the expiration of the certificate issued by CORENEVA, the cableway oversight body.

The reopening is considered a significant boost for local tourism, as the cable car provides essential access to high-altitude hiking trails. D’Annuntiis expressed support for the regional staff for their efficiency during the Ferragosto holiday period and emphasized the region's commitment to addressing local community needs regarding strategic infrastructure.
