Prato approves executive project for Iolo aquatic center

The executive project for the ‘Stadio dell’acqua’ in Iolo, Prato, has been officially approved, clearing the way for construction to begin. The new aquatic center represents a total investment of 16 million euros.

The project proceeds despite the revocation of 6.5 million euros in funding from the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) by the Department for Sport. To address this loss, the Municipality of Prato has already committed 1.95 million euros to repay the initial 30% advance received.

To ensure the project's economic sustainability, 9.5 million euros will be covered by a loan previously secured with the Istituto per il Credito Sportivo, while the remaining balance will be funded by the municipality using its administrative surplus. Local authorities confirmed that the contract management with the winning bidder is currently being handled by municipal offices to prioritize the public interest and project completion.
