Prato machete attack linked to five-year-old grudge

A 42-year-old Chinese man from Fujian province has been placed in custody following a machete attack in the Chinatown district of Prato. The incident occurred on September 28 in front of the Food Center restaurant.

Prosecutors allege the attack was an act of revenge for a shooting that took place five years ago, in which the current victim had reportedly fired at the suspect. During the recent assault, the suspect allegedly struck the 37-year-old victim repeatedly in the head and body. The victim survived by attempting to defend himself from the blade.

A third individual, also from Fujian, reportedly intervened during the scene by using a billhook to threaten bystanders and prevent them from assisting the victim.
