Prayagraj floods as Ganga and Yamuna river levels rise
Rising water levels in the Ganga and Yamuna rivers have caused flooding in low-lying areas of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. In the Daraganj area, river water has entered settlements and huts, disrupting daily life and forcing residents to move essential belongings to safer locations. The Dashashwamedh Ghat stairs have also been submerged by the rising waters.
In some affected neighborhoods, floodwaters have reached depths of approximately 3 feet inside homes, submerging cars and motorcycles. Streets and alleys have turned into waterways, necessitating the use of boats for transportation and rescue operations. While the river levels remain below the official danger mark, the rapid rate of increase has placed the local administration on alert. Relief stations have been activated to monitor the situation and provide food, drinking water, and assistance to displaced families.
