Uruapan Mayor Grecia Quiroz faces pressure to surrender Carlos Manzo's phones

Michoacán Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla has called on Uruapan Mayor Grecia Quiroz García to surrender the mobile phones of the late Carlos Manzo Rodríguez to assist in the investigation of his murder. The Governor emphasized that the devices are fundamental to clarifying the motives behind the homicide and separating the judicial process from political discourse.

Mayor Quiroz has declined the request, expressing concerns that the demand could be a form of political persecution or an attempt to fabricate charges against her. She has also called for a formal criminal investigation into political figures Leonel Godoy, Raúl Morón, and Ignacio Campos, whom she claims were directly implicated by Manzo prior to his death.

Michoacán Attorney General Carlos Torres Piña reported that the investigation is between 80 and 90 percent complete, with 31 individuals already detained. He noted that the mobile phones were not found at the crime scene or the hospital, meaning they were not part of the initial evidence chain.
