Precise Biometrics merges with Fingerprint Cards to expand biometric security as AI fraud grows

Swedish biometric specialist Precise Biometrics announced a merger with fellow Swedish firm Fingerprint Cards (FPC). The combined entity aims to create a larger, more diversified biometric company capable of offering end‑to‑end solutions—from algorithms and software to sensors and hardware—targeting a growing market for secure identification.

The move is driven by rising threats from AI‑generated deepfakes and increasingly sophisticated identity fraud. Both companies see heightened demand from enterprises, government agencies and national ID programmes for fast, reliable, and user‑friendly biometric authentication using fingerprints, facial, iris or palm‑print data.

CEO Joakim Nydemark highlighted that the merger will broaden the product portfolio, enlarge the global customer base and improve the financial resources needed to meet the market’s scaling and security requirements.
