PRECISE consortium launched to predict cancer vulnerabilities

A new European consortium named PRECISE (Predictive Relationships Explaining Cancer Genetic Interactions and Synthetic Essentiality) has been established to advance cancer research. Co-founded by Human Technopole, the initiative aims to move beyond descriptive studies of tumor vulnerabilities to understand and predict the biological mechanisms that drive them.

While existing Cancer Dependency Maps have helped identify therapeutic targets, they often fail to explain the underlying biological reasons for these dependencies or predict them in unexplored tumor contexts. PRECISE intends to bridge this gap by integrating functional genomics, controlled cellular experiments, multimodal data, and artificial intelligence. The goal is to develop predictive models capable of explaining why specific vulnerabilities emerge and forecasting them in tumors that have not yet been experimentally characterized.
