European research initiatives advance cancer prediction and modeling

A new European consortium, PRECISE (Predictive Relationships Explaining Cancer Genetic Interactions and Synthetic Essentiality), has been launched to advance precision oncology. The initiative aims to move beyond descriptive cancer mapping to create predictive models that identify genetic vulnerabilities and therapeutic targets in tumor cells, even in unexplored contexts. The consortium integrates functional genomics, experimental biology, and artificial intelligence, involving over 30 research groups from more than 20 institutions across nine countries. Human Technopole is among the founding members.

In a related development for international cancer research, the Arc-net Centre at the University of Verona has contributed over 70 patient-derived tumor models to the Human Cancer Models Initiative (HCMI). These models, which include pancreatic and colorectal organoids, provide the scientific community with advanced molecular profiles, including DNA and RNA sequences, to support global oncological studies.
