Prediction Markets Reach $20 B Monthly Volume as Platforms Expand

Monthly prediction‑market trading volume surged from about $1.2 billion in early 2025 to more than $20 billion in January 2026, with over 840,000 unique wallets participating each month. This rapid growth is outpacing the existing infrastructure that settles market outcomes.

Chainlink’s decentralized oracle networks are positioned as a solution, offering high‑speed, tamper‑proof data feeds that can resolve contracts without relying on human‑operated “optimistic” oracles, which present conflict‑of‑interest risks as market size expands.

At the same time, several platforms are driving user adoption. Kalshi, a fully regulated U.S. exchange, lists contracts on measurable events such as inflation reports and weather. Polymarket has resumed operations in the United States after a four‑year ban, and FanDuel launched its prediction‑market product, FanDuel Predicts, in 2026. Other operators, including Novig and major sports‑betting firms, are also exploring entry into the space.

Industry observers note that reliable data and scalable oracle services are essential for the sector to transition from a fast‑growing niche to a foundational pillar of the global financial system.
