Predrag Pepi Laković: Remembering the legacy of the ‘Bolji život’ actor

The Serbian acting community marks the 29th anniversary of the death of Predrag Pepi Laković, a renowned character actor best known for his role as Uncle Kosta in the series ‘Bolji život’.

Laković passed away on September 9, 1997, at the age of 68. He had gone fishing on the Mrtva Tisa river and never returned; his body was discovered by local fishermen several days later. While the official cause of death was recorded as drowning, the circumstances surrounding the incident remained a subject of public speculation for years.

Throughout his career, Laković was noted for his ability to bring depth to supporting roles in significant films and television productions, including ‘Balkanski špijun’, ‘Otac na službenom putu’, and ‘Crna mačka, beli mačor’. His untimely death occurred while he was working on the latter film directed by Emir Kusturica, requiring certain scenes to be completed by other actors.
