Prefabricated housing grows as industrial construction offers alternatives to traditional real estate

The housing market is seeing a rise in interest toward prefabricated and modular homes as traditional real estate prices and mortgage accessibility become more difficult for many families. In Spain, companies like Cecotec and Casas inHAUS are investing in large-scale industrialization, including a gigafactory, to produce thousands of homes annually to reduce costs and construction times.

While some platforms like Amazon offer modular units at low price points, experts note that industrialization does not automatically guarantee lower costs if quality remains equal; rather, it provides better control over budgets and timelines.

In Europe, new technological innovations are emerging, such as a German-developed system using interlocking solid wood blocks. This method uses certified C24 structural timber and wooden nails instead of traditional cement or screws, allowing for rapid assembly of facades and significantly reducing construction duration.
