Prefect Raduly Addresses Bear Threats Near Sfântu Gheorghe Stadium

Around 30 residents of Sfântu Gheorghe submitted a petition to Covasna County Prefecture asking for action against bears repeatedly entering the area around Arena Sepsi stadium and nearby hotel. Prefect Istvan Raduly confirmed that the emergency ordinance 81/2021 requires a graduated response: first removal, then relocation, and if a bear becomes aggressive, shooting is permitted. He said the county estimates about 2,340 bears live in Covasna, with roughly 20 culled this year for danger to communities. The prefect will forward the petition to the local commission responsible for applying the ordinance and will press for a definitive solution.
