Matamoros authorities investigate pregnancy of 11-year-old girl

Authorities in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, have launched a criminal investigation following the discovery that an 11-year-old girl is approximately five months pregnant. The child is currently hospitalized at the IMSS Hospital General de Zona No. 13, where she is receiving specialized medical attention for a high-risk pregnancy.

The Fiscalía General de Justicia de Tamaulipas is investigating the case as a probable rape. Investigators are examining the child's immediate environment, including family members and those with access to her home, to identify a responsible party. Reports indicate the girl lived with her mother and stepfather; while the mother has filed a complaint, the stepfather has publicly denied any involvement.

Adding to the complexity, records from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement indicate that Sirenio Ruiz, the girl's stepfather, was previously convicted of a sexual offense against a minor in 2005 and was subsequently deported. The DIF Matamoros is providing support, and officials have stated that if the perpetrator is found to be a close relative, the child may be placed under state custody.
