Prekmurje unification anniversary celebrated in Slovenia
Slovenia marked the anniversary of the annexation of Prekmurje and the unification of the Prekmurje Slovanians with their mother nation. Central celebrations were held in Velika Polana and Črenšovci, featuring high-ranking officials including President of the National Council Marko Lotrič, President of the National Assembly Zoran Stevanović, and Deputy Prime Minister Jernej Vrtovec.
In his address, Minister Vrtovec emphasized the importance of modern infrastructure and development opportunities to encourage young people to remain in the region, while also noting the challenges faced by local farmers due to drought. Prime Minister Janez Janša issued a message stating that the unification was a victory of national consciousness over political pressure and uncertainty, noting that the event confirmed the historical belonging, language, and culture of the people.
The commemorative program included military honors, cultural performances by the Slovenian Army Orchestra, and local musical groups, alongside religious services to bless the homeland.
