Premature Babies Celebrate First World Cup with Hospital Photo Session in Santa Maria

Neonatal staff at the Hospital Regional de Santa Maria in Brazil organized a special photo shoot for premature infants titled “My 1st World Cup.” The initiative, led by head nurse Lorena Mendes, created a football‑themed backdrop with tiny caps and props, allowing families to capture memorable images during the intensive care stay. Participants included infant Liz Prado, born at 36 weeks with a heart condition, whose parents praised the experience as a “golden moment” before her transfer to another unit. The project aims to provide emotional support and lasting memories for families facing the challenges of neonatal hospitalization.

The photo session is part of the hospital’s broader effort to humanise care by marking holidays and special dates with themed events, helping parents feel connected to their children despite the clinical environment.
