Premier League bans betting sponsors from front of shirts starting 2026 season
From the 2026‑27 campaign, none of the 20 clubs in England's Premier League will be allowed to display a betting or online casino operator as the primary sponsor on the front of their shirts. The league reached the agreement with clubs in 2023, allowing existing contracts to run out at the end of the 2025‑26 season. In 2025, eleven clubs still featured betting firms as their main shirt sponsor, prompting the change.
Betting logos may continue on sleeves, stadium advertising boards and clubs' digital channels, but overall visibility will be reduced. The policy aims to curb gambling exposure, especially among young fans, and to diversify sponsorship revenue. For the 2026‑27 season the most common front‑of‑shirt sponsor sector will be financial services, covering five clubs, followed by airlines (three clubs) and technology and food companies (two each), with additional partners from human‑resources, telecoms, insurance, software and tourism.
