Premier League clubs chase young talent in €30‑80 million transfer bids

Sunderland have entered the race for 18‑year‑old winger Kerim Alajbegović, a Bayer Leverkusen player whose buy‑back clause is set at €8 million. The Bosnian, who scored 17 goals in 44 games for Red Bull Salzburg, is valued at €25‑30 million and is also being watched by Arsenal and Manchester United. Sunderland hope the move will bolster their squad as they aim for European competition after a 53‑year hiatus.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are pursuing 21‑year‑old midfielder Mateus Fernandes of West Ham United. The Portuguese international, priced at £80 million, has attracted interest from Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea and others. United see him as a replacement for departing midfielders and a boost to their squad depth ahead of the new season.
