Premier League clubs lose $21 million from gambling sponsorship opt-out

A voluntary opt-out of gambling shirt sponsorships in the Premier League has resulted in a total loss of $21.06 million across ten clubs. While some teams saw financial improvements through new partnerships, those that lost revenue saw a combined decrease of $31.03 million, averaging a loss of $5.17 million per club.

West Ham United recorded the largest single decline, losing $12.46 million, though they retained a gambling operator, Boyle Sports, as their new sponsor. Wolverhampton Wanderers also saw a significant reduction of $9.22 million while maintaining a partnership with Midnite. Data indicates that despite the shirt sponsorship restrictions, gambling endorsements remain prevalent through other avenues such as sleeve branding and pitch-side advertising.
