Premier League faces significant managerial turnover for new season

The upcoming Premier League season will feature significant managerial turnover, with nine out of 20 clubs starting with new managers. This high volume of changes has only occurred twice before in league history: during the 1888/89 and 1946/47 seasons.

Including recent appointments like Michael Carrick and Roberto De Zerbi, a total of 11 clubs will be led by managers who have been in their positions for less than a year. This trend reflects a shift toward younger, less experienced leadership, with the average manager age standing at 46.9 years.

English representation at the helm has also declined. Following Eddie Howe's departure from Newcastle, only three English managers—Michael Carrick, Frank Lampard, and Gary O’Neil—will lead clubs. In contrast, top-tier contenders are increasingly led by Spanish managers, including those at Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, and Liverpool.
