Premier League faces VAR controversy following disputed decisions

The Premier League experienced a weekend of significant controversy surrounding Video Assistant Referee (VAR) decisions. Multiple matches were impacted by lengthy reviews and disputed calls.

At Leeds United, a goal by Bogle was eventually awarded following a prolonged analysis that initially suggested an offside position. At Gtech Community Stadium, a goal by Ballard was overturned after a nearly five-minute review concluded that Danso had interfered with goalkeeper Kelleher. Similarly, Kamada’s equalizer at Craven Cottage was disallowed due to a marginal offside.

In another fixture, Newcastle United and Bournemouth played to a draw. Despite Bournemouth taking a two-goal lead through Marcus Tavernier and a Malick Thiaw own goal, Newcastle recovered with a goal from Harvey Barnes and a late equalizer from Jacob Ramsey.
