Premier League fans face high broadcast and ticket costs

New research indicates that fans in the United Kingdom face the highest costs globally to watch Premier League matches via television. For the 2026/27 season, UK viewers are expected to pay approximately $1,075.42 annually to access 267 live matches, which is more than any other country studied. In contrast, most other nations can access all 380 matches for under $407.41 per year. The United States ranks as the fifth most expensive country for broadcast subscriptions, with an annual cost of $661.99.

In addition to broadcast expenses, Premier League season ticket prices remain a significant concern for supporters. While demand remains high, with every club maintaining a waiting list, 14 of the 20 clubs have increased season ticket prices, some exceeding the rate of inflation. Five clubs have chosen to freeze prices. Eight clubs now offer season tickets exceeding £1,000, with some fan groups, particularly at Liverpool, expressing discontent over rising costs.
