Premier League managerial trends show peak sacking months in late year

Data indicates that November and December are the most frequent months for managerial departures in the English Premier League. Nearly one-third of all sackings occur during this period, as clubs often seek changes around autumn international breaks or ahead of the January transfer window.

During the 2025-2026 season, 11 managers left their positions, with an average tenure of 310 days—the second-lowest in the competition’s history. Enzo Maresca’s departure from Chelsea was noted as the only resignation among those departures.

Pressure is mounting on several current managers due to poor performances. Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick is facing scrutiny following a 4-1 defeat to Como in the UEFA Champions League and reported tensions with players, including captain Bruno Fernandes. Reports suggest that disagreements between coaching staff and players can undermine dressing room support.
