Chelsea draw 3-3 with Johor Darul Ta'zim in Malaysia
Chelsea concluded their pre-season tour of Asia with a 3-3 draw against Malaysian champions Johor Darul Ta'zim at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium. Under new head coach Xabi Alonso, Chelsea fielded a heavily rotated squad following their 3-0 victory over AC Milan less than 24 hours prior.
Johor Darul Ta'zim took an early lead in the 14th minute through Arif Aiman. Chelsea responded before halftime when Liam Delap converted a penalty. In the second half, Delap scored his second from the penalty spot to give the Blues a 2-1 lead, but Johor quickly equalized via Óscar Arribas. Bergson later put Johor ahead 3-2 in the 86th minute, before Antonio Glauder's late own goal secured the draw for Chelsea.
Alonso, who has been integrating new players and testing squad depth, emphasized that tactical flexibility and continuous evolution will be central to the team's approach for the upcoming Premier League season.
