Premier League 2026/27 season kickoff fuels broadcast deals and UK hospitality surge

The 2026/27 Premier League season arrives with major changes. After nearly a decade, Pep Guardiola leaves Manchester City and Enzo Maresca is appointed as his successor. Arsenal begin the campaign as champions, ending a 20‑year title drought, while newly promoted clubs Coventry City, Hull City and Ipswich Town join the top flight.

Broadcast partners are expanding coverage. Sky Sports will air more than 1,500 live matches across the Premier League, EFL, Women’s Super League and Scottish Premiership, including 215 Premier League fixtures. In Africa, SuperSport will launch the season on DStv and GOtv in Nigeria on 21 August 2026, continuing its coverage of Europe’s major leagues.

The heightened football calendar is driving economic benefits. Sky reports a 9 % sales uplift for venues showing its coverage, rising to 14 % for “Big Six” clashes and up to 45 % on the final matchday. Eighty‑one percent of out‑of‑home viewers say they spend more in pubs and bars when watching live football, reinforcing the sport’s role in boosting the hospitality sector.
