Liverpool rejects £80m Manchester City bid for Cody Gakpo

Liverpool has rejected an offer from Manchester City for forward Cody Gakpo, confirming the 27-year-old will remain at Anfield. The rejected bid was reported to be worth approximately £80 million, consisting of a £75 million fixed fee plus £5 million in potential add-ons.

Despite Gakpo reportedly being open to a move to the Etihad Stadium, Liverpool decided to retain the Dutch international due to sporting necessity and the inability to secure a suitable replacement before the transfer deadline. This decision follows Liverpool's recent high-profile signing of Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain.

Following the failed pursuit of Gakpo, Manchester City has shifted its focus toward other targets. The club has reached an agreement in principle to sign Iliman Ndiaye from Everton for a package worth roughly £65 million. City is also reportedly pursuing Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
