Premier Padel launches inaugural Pretoria P1 tournament in South Africa
Premier Padel’s first African event, the Pretoria P1, began on 27 July 2026 at the SunBet Arena in the Menlyn Maine district of Pretoria. The tournament, upgraded to a P1 category before the season started, features both men’s and women’s draws, with the round of 64 (thirty‑eighth finals) played on three courts and streamed live on Premier Padel’s YouTube channel. From the quarter‑finals onward coverage moves to Red Bull TV and Movistar Plus.
Set at 1,339 metres above sea level, the altitude significantly affects ball behaviour. Bullpadel supplied a low‑pressure, high‑altitude ball specifically for the event, and players such as Javi Garrido have been training in altitude chambers and adjusting equipment. The multi‑purpose SunBet Arena can hold 8,500 spectators, marking a historic first for professional padel on the continent.
