Fabri Fibra criticizes economic hardships facing Italian youth
Italian rapper Fabri Fibra has expressed solidarity with young protesters, citing the severe economic difficulties facing the new generation. Speaking at the Premio Tenco in Sanremo, the artist linked the current social unrest to low wages, prohibitive rent costs, and intense social pressure.
Fibra highlighted the disparity between past and present economic realities, noting that while he earned approximately 1,200 euros at age 21, modern salaries of 1,800 euros are often offset by rents reaching 1,000 euros. He described contemporary society as a “total duty free” environment where individuals feel pressured to consume constantly to maintain social standing and digital presence.
The rapper also addressed the evolution of rap music, noting its growing credibility as a form of singer-songwriter art, particularly through the rise of “conscious rap.”
