Prešov mayoral election: Oľha favored as candidates present platforms

The mayoral election in Prešov features six candidates, with current mayor František Oľha identified by bookmakers as the clear favorite. According to betting odds from Tipsport, Oľha holds a significant lead with a coefficient of 1.20. Other notable contenders include former mayor Pavel Hagyari, running as an independent with odds of 3.90, and Rastislav Mochnacký at 4.50.

Independent candidate Martin Eštočák has introduced a campaign focused on financial oversight and municipal reform. His platform prioritizes a comprehensive audit of city finances, debts, and municipal companies to establish a data-driven management plan. Eštočák has pledged to accept only a base salary and to limit the number of vice-mayors to a single individual, aiming to save the city over 100,000 euros.

Additional campaign promises from Eštočák include financial support for families, such as contributions for first-time parents, and increased property tax relief for seniors. He also proposes infrastructure solutions like parking towers for residential areas and a support line for lonely seniors. The municipal elections are scheduled to take place on October 24.
