Prešov plans garage house project in Sekčov housing estate

The city of Prešov is preparing a project for a multi-level garage house in the northeastern part of the Sekčov housing estate, near Sibírska Street. According to the urban-architectural study by Ivan Mikle, the facility will feature 151 garage boxes for personal vehicles, including six spaces designated for persons with reduced mobility and two for motorcycles.

The design utilizes the slope of the terrain to provide separate entrances for the upper and lower floors. To integrate the structure into the existing environment, the plan includes green spaces, climbing plants on the exterior walls, and a rooftop area that would serve as a green zone and a children's playground. The facility will also include three charging stations for electric vehicles.

Prešov Mayor František Oľha noted that vertical garage houses are a necessary solution for parking shortages in housing estates. The project currently serves as a basis for further decision-making by the city and the new municipal council. A public tender will be held regarding the sale of the specific municipal land required for the construction, though final realization depends on subsequent permitting processes.
