Prešov Police Deploy New Electric and Hybrid Patrol Cars

The Municipal Police of Prešov, Slovakia, has put three new patrol vehicles into service – two electric cars and one gasoline‑powered car. The vehicles, costing up to €90,000 each, are fitted with light and sound warning systems, fire extinguishers, ballistic vests and automatic defibrillators. Chief of Police Imrich Olejník said the new fleet will lower operating costs and improve ecological performance. A third vehicle equipped with a GPS‑linked scanning system for monitoring parked cars is awaiting a public procurement for the scanner component.

The rollout replaces older units that had reached the end of their service life and were no longer economical to operate.
