Prešov to build new market in Sekčov housing estate

The city of Prešov is constructing a new market in the Sekčov housing estate on Exnárova Street. The project, costing over 306,000 EUR including VAT, will feature ten sales stalls designed to provide fresh produce from local growers.

In addition to the market stalls, the development includes paved areas, an expanded parking lot, utility network solutions, bicycle stands, and a new children's playground. The construction site was recently taken over by the contractor IBEG, a. s. Prešov. While the contract specifies a five-month duration, the contractor aims to complete the project ahead of schedule by the end of October.

Mayor František Oľha noted that the initiative aims to revitalize the residential area and improve public spaces, serving as both a commercial hub and a community space. He mentioned that while a central market in the city center remains a goal, regional heritage preservationists have prevented its realization so far.
