President Abinader shifts Dominican government communication strategy

President Luis Rodolfo Abinader has transitioned the Dominican Republic's government communication strategy from the 'La Semanal con la Prensa' format to a new initiative called 'La Agenda Semanal'.

The previous format, which began in August 2023, was criticized for allowing the political agenda to be driven by external actors and opposition voices. The new 'La Agenda Semanal' model is designed to allow the President to supervise and present priority administration topics alongside ministers and directors.

Under this new scheme, government officials will present public policies, projects, results, and challenges. The format aims to hold institutional leaders accountable for their commitments while still providing spaces for questions from journalists, civil society representatives, and citizens.
