President András Baka addresses Arraiolos Group on EU security
President András Baka represented Hungary at the Arraiolos Group meeting in Ljubljana, an annual gathering of heads of state from EU countries with parliamentary and semi-presidential systems. The meeting focused on the future, security, and resilience of the European Union amidst various crises.
In his address, Baka emphasized the importance of maintaining unity and human responsibility within democracies. He stated that while national experiences differ, expressing common principles is vital. He highlighted that Hungary remains a reliable member of the EU, a committed NATO ally, and an active member of the United Nations, noting that these partnerships protect rather than diminish freedom.
Addressing geopolitical threats, Baka identified Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine as one of the most serious challenges facing the continent. He reaffirmed Hungary’s support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders and called for a just and lasting peace based on international law.
