President Asfura pledges aid to Piraera following severe drought

President Nasry Asfura has pledged government assistance to the municipality of Piraera, Lempira, following a severe drought that has devastated local agriculture. During a meeting with Mayor Deydin Armando Mendoza Cantarero, the president designated the area as a critical zone, promising immediate food aid to support the population.

The drought has severely impacted approximately 3,000 families, resulting in the total loss of corn and bean crops. Due to these agricultural failures, local producers are facing extreme economic pressure, with some being forced to sell their livestock to meet basic food and financial needs.

In addition to emergency relief, the president expressed support for long-term development projects proposed by the municipal government to improve the region's infrastructure and economic stability.
