President Barrow inaugurates new road projects in The Gambia
President Adama Barrow has inaugurated a 13.9-kilometer concrete road in the Upper River Region, linking Numuyel, Demba Kunda, Manneh Kunda, and Basse. The project aims to reduce travel times, improve safety, and provide year-round access to schools, health facilities, and markets, particularly during the rainy season.
In the Central River Region, residents and motorcycle riders have welcomed the construction of a 20.5-kilometer road project. This government-funded initiative, implemented by the National Roads Authority, connects several communities including Choya, Sare Bakary, Pinai, Katamina, Malikunda, Dankunku, Missera, Jessadi, Si Kunda, Makema, Touba Mbakeh, and Wellingara.
Local commuters noted that previous road conditions caused significant physical strain, such as back and rib pain, and frequent vehicle damage due to potholes and dust. The new infrastructure is expected to lower transport fares and reduce maintenance costs for local motorists.
