President Barrow to inaugurate Sanyang Seaside Road and announce energy upgrades

President Adama Barrow is set to inaugurate the new 4.5-kilometer Sanyang Seaside Road on September 1, 2026. Constructed by Zen Construction Ltd. under the supervision of the National Roads Authority, the project features concrete-paved carriageways, drainage, and street lighting. The road connects the Brusubi–Kartong Highway directly to the Sanyang seaside, aiming to boost tourism, improve local economic connectivity, and enhance mobility for residents.

During the event, President Barrow also addressed ongoing electricity outages, announcing that three new power generators have been ordered and are being shipped to the country. Additionally, the government has completed the tender process for a 50-megawatt solar power plant, with construction expected to begin soon. Barrow noted that electricity access has increased from approximately 35 percent to 92 percent during his administration, expressing a long-term goal of generating enough power to export to other nations.
