President Bassirou Diomaye Faye Launches Guide to Streamline Senegal’s Legislative Process
President Bassirou Diomaye Faye is spearheading a comprehensive reform of Senegal’s law‑making and decree‑issuing system. The government plans to adopt a new Guide of Legislative Drafting that will set standards for clarity, legal quality and coherence across ministries, linking draft statutes and regulations to the Senegal 2050 development agenda. The reform also includes accelerating the publication of texts by digitising the Official Journal and fully archiving past editions by the end of 2026, aiming to improve public access to law and reduce delays between adoption and implementation. The proposed decree on the guide is expected to be presented to the cabinet before August 2026, marking a key step in the broader effort to make public administration more efficient and aligned with national transformation goals.
