President Bola Tinubu dissolves Nigeria's federal property committee

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the immediate dissolution of the Presidential Implementation Committee (PIC) on the Alienation of Federal Government Properties. The committee, created in 2000 under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, oversaw the sale, lease and other transactions of federal landed assets. The decision, effective 5 November 2025, transfers all responsibilities for federal properties to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Lateet Fagbemi. Secretary B. S. Dutsin‑Ma was ordered to cease acting on behalf of the committee and the government.

The presidency said the PIC had exceeded its original mandate and had become entangled in numerous litigations across the country, prompting the move to streamline management of federal assets under the Attorney General’s office.
