President Bola Tinubu faces budget scandal criticism and claims of guaranteed re‑election

Former vice‑president Atiku Abubakar accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of diverting billions of naira to road‑construction projects through the National Commission for Almajiri and Out‑of‑School Children Education, an agency meant for education. The budget, as revealed in the 2026 Appropriation Act, allocated roughly ₦1.4 billion each for multiple road projects and about ₦1.05 billion for others, prompting Atiku to label the practice a pattern of budget padding and fund diversion linked to Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila.

In a separate statement, former ADC member Dr Aslam Aliyu, now with the ruling APC, declared that there will be no vacancy in the Presidential Villa until 2031 and expressed confidence that Tinubu will win the 2027 presidential election, condemning the ADC as a “hoax” and urging supporters to join the APC.
