Claudia Sheinbaum conducts multi-day tour of Tamaulipas

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum conducted a multi-day tour of Tamaulipas to oversee infrastructure, healthcare, and housing projects. Key activities included the inauguration of ISSSTE and IMSS-Bienestar hospitals in the Tampico-Madero area, and the delivery of homes to families in Reynosa and Matamoros. Sheinbaum also supervised water supply infrastructure in Ciudad Victoria.

In coordination with Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya, federal and state authorities discussed expanding housing goals, with Infonavit officials noting a target increase to 60,000 homes for the state. Additionally, the tour addressed agricultural support, including requests for white corn producers to join the ‘Precio Justo’ program and debt restructuring for farmers.

Educational and cultural developments were also highlighted. The Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) inaugurated a new preparatory school in Tampico and renewed its collaboration agreement with the state government. Meanwhile, Tampico announced an extensive 2026-2027 tourism agenda featuring jazz festivals, cycling competitions, and carnivals to boost the local economy.
