Sri Lanka and Egypt leaders mark Milad-un-Nabi with messages of unity

Leaders in Sri Lanka and Egypt have issued messages of peace and unity to mark Milad-un-Nabi, the commemoration of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad.

In Sri Lanka, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake emphasized the Prophet’s teachings on equality, compassion, and social justice as a guide for building a harmonious, multi-ethnic society. He noted that these values could support national efforts, including campaigns against illicit drugs. Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya echoed these sentiments, stating that the Prophet’s commitment to religious coexistence is highly relevant to addressing modern global conflicts and humanitarian challenges. Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa also extended greetings, highlighting the importance of mutual respect and coexistence in a multicultural nation.

In Egypt, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi attended a formal celebration at the Al Safwa Center for International Conferences. The event included religious recitations, the screening of documentaries regarding the Prophet and the importance of work, and the awarding of the Medal of Sciences and Arts to various scholars and distinguished individuals.
