President Donald Trump buys shares in Kura Sushi USA, ethics filing reveals

U.S. President Donald Trump disclosed, through a filing with the Office of Government Ethics, that he purchased shares in Kura Sushi USA, the Nasdaq‑listed U.S. subsidiary of the Japanese conveyor‑belt sushi chain Kura Sushi. The transaction occurred on February 2 and the stake was valued between roughly $1 million and $5 million. The filing, covering the first quarter of 2026 (January‑March), also notes that Trump bought Japanese equity exchange‑traded funds and shares in Nvidia and ExxonMobil, and that he traded about 3,700 stocks in total during the period.

Kura Sushi USA was listed on Nasdaq in 2019 and operates a network of sushi restaurants across the United States, while its parent company is based in Japan. The ethics filing is part of the U.S. Office of Government Ethics' oversight of potential conflicts of interest for government officials.
