President Donald Trump threatens Iran and lifts Syria from US terror‑sponsor list
President Donald Trump told the New York Post that he has issued explicit orders for the United States to respond with unprecedented force if Iran attempts to carry out an assassination plot against him, warning Tehran of “retaliation like never seen before.” The remarks came after Israeli intelligence reports of a new Iranian plan to kill the U.S. president.
In a separate announcement, Trump wrote to Syrian Vice President Ahmed al‑Sharaa that he will remove Syria from the U.S. State Sponsors of Terrorism list. He pledged to lift the sanctions that have hampered reconstruction and invited U.S. and Gulf‑region investors to participate in Syria’s rebuilding. The removal will be subject to a 45‑day congressional review before taking effect.
