President Droupadi Murmu attends NIFT Combined Convocation 2026

President Droupadi Murmu attended the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Combined Convocation 2026 as the Chief Guest. The ceremony brought together graduating students from 18 NIFT campuses across India to celebrate their academic achievements.

During her address, President Murmu emphasized the importance of the textile and apparel sector to India’s cultural heritage and economy. She noted that approximately 85% of the nearly 4,000 students in attendance were women. The President encouraged graduates to adopt a global outlook while remaining rooted in Indian cultural values, urging them to become job providers to support the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh also attended the event. The convocation included the presentation of gold medals to outstanding students with the highest CGPA across various programs. Following the combined ceremony, campus-specific degree distribution events were held to mark the students' transition into the professional world.
