President Droupadi Murmu inaugurates Jagadguru Kripalu University in Cuttack, India

India’s President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the newly established Jagadguru Kripalu University in Cuttack, Odisha on August 3, 2026. In her address she highlighted Odisha’s historic contributions to knowledge, culture and public service, citing figures such as Madhusudan Das, Gauri Shankar Ray, Subhash Chandra Bose and Biju Patnaik.

Murmu urged higher‑education institutions to provide value‑based education, nurture research, innovation and entrepreneurship, and integrate India’s cultural and spiritual heritage with modern learning. She emphasized that India’s young population is a strategic asset and linked the university’s role to the national goal of a "Viksit Bharat" by 2047, calling for universities to shape citizens with integrity, discipline and a commitment to the national interest.
